Northwestern Mutual - Greater Orlando donates therapy companions in support of the fight against childhood cancer

As part of their Childhood Cancer Program, Northwestern Mutual – Greater Orlando donates their first 25 Chemo Ducks to Nemours Children's Hospital on February 17th, 2017 in show of support to those afflicted with childhood cancer.

Gabe’s Chemo Duck Program is a unique educational program offered by Gabe’s My Heart, a nonprofit organization inspired by one boy’s fight and eventual victory against childhood cancer. Started in 2002, Gabe’s My Heart has encouraged children with childhood cancer to heal and provided important information to family and friends through Chemo Ducks. Developed with the help of child life specialists and medical professionals, Chemo Ducks supply soft cuddly companionship and a way for the doctors to show the children different procedures on the duck before the child.  By providing a companion such as Chemo Duck, children and families alike are introduced to their new life and encouraged to heal through the power of play therapy.
